Timeline

2015 – 2024

Outcome

Acquired 2024

13 Fifty Apparel started in a garage. Chris Lewis was a full-time detective with no infrastructure, no team, and no playbook — just demand that kept growing faster than the setup could handle. He was fulfilling orders from a card table, stacking inventory on Home Depot shelves, and shipping from the trunk of his patrol car.

13 Fifty Apparel — where it started

He built the entire operation from scratch — self-teaching Shopify, digital advertising, fulfillment logistics, and production through YouTube, forums, and trial and error. By 2017 Lauren had joined as co-operator and they opened their first official HQ in Boca Raton. By 2018 they moved into a 10,000 sq ft warehouse in West Palm Beach with a full fulfillment center, retail store, content studio, and podcast studio.

By 2023 the brand had scaled to a 100,000 sq ft Atlanta HQ with 50+ employees and a national retail presence. Chris built the systems, SOPs, and vendor network that turned a passion-driven brand into an acquirable asset — the playbooks LCL3 runs today were forged here. He structured the team, documented the operations, and positioned the brand for the exit that closed in 2024.

Challenge

13 Fifty Apparel started in a garage. Chris Lewis was a full-time detective with no infrastructure, no team, and no playbook — demand growing faster than a card table, Home Depot shelving, and the trunk of a patrol car could fulfill. There was no operator to hire. The operation had to be built while the brand was already selling.

What we did

Chris built the company in-house: Shopify architecture, fulfillment and operations, digital marketing, brand, B2B and retail expansion, and the SOPs that let a team run it. Lauren joined as co-operator in 2017 (first HQ in Boca Raton). In 2018 the brand moved into a 10,000 sq ft West Palm Beach warehouse with fulfillment, retail, and a content studio. By 2023 that was a 100,000 sq ft Atlanta HQ with 50+ employees and national retail. The playbooks LCL3 runs for clients were written here, not in a slide deck.

Outcome

The brand was acquired in 2024. The result on this page is the operation: 100K sq ft HQ, 50+ employees, and a documented business that could change hands. This is founder-work, recast as the operating system LCL3 still uses. See operations services for how that system is applied to other brands.
